Meraki (may-rah-kee) n. to do something with soul, creativity and love.

This is the word that encapsulates the spirit and energy behind the store and its founder Yegodenesh (Yego) Shimelis. Founded in 2020, ShopYego is based in Los Angeles and is dedicated to supporting local artisans in Ethiopia, where each piece is handwoven from locally sourced cotton. 

Yego has always had a passion for fashion and fabrics and it has been her lifelong dream to bring Ethiopian textile and design to a wider audience. As an immigrant from Ethiopia, Yego has always found beauty in the unique clothes and the traditional hand-woven process. ShopYego stands by bespoke Ethiopian clothing made for everyday wear, whether it’s a day at the beach, or in the office. We want every customer to feel confident, bold, and beautiful with our products. 

Through the support of family and friends, ShopYego has become a reality, and it would not have been made possible without the encouragement of her late-mom, who was always her number one cheerleader.
